Is it the time for a transition?

Recently diesel and petroloeum shortage hits chennai city due to inadequate supply.The petroleum bunks cuts the supply of normal petrol and selling only high octane petrols (like speed).Inorder to run their daily life ,the people in chennai city are in a pitiable state to get one litre petrol for RS.62 .Is it the right time to switch to Battery powered vehicles???
